A little history:

New York was the 11th of the original 13 colonies to ratify the constitution on July 26, 1788

The state of NY official motto is “Excelsior” meaning “Onward and Upward”. Too many New York is commonly thought of by its nickname the “Empire State”.

As of 2012 Republican registered voters of New York stands at 10.6% of total registered voters. Let’s work together to increase Republican registration numbers.


New Yorks signers of the Declaration of Independence were: Lewis Morris, Philip Livingston, Francis Lewis and William Floyd.

New Yorks framers of the constitution (asterisk indicates those who did not sign): Alexander Hamilton, John Lansing, Jr.* and Robert Yates*.

Seventy-seven of the Federalists papers were published serially in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet between October of 1787 and August 1788. John Jay authored five Federalists papers and Alexander Hamilton authored seventy-five Federalists papers and both were among our Founding Fathers.

Federalist No. 1 written by Alexander Hamilton, Independent Journal, Saturday, October 27, 1787 set the tone.

“It has been frequently remarked, that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not, of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend, for their political constitutions, on accident and force.”

Anti-Federalist published sixteen essays in the New York Journal from October, 1787, through April, 1788,

Nearly one-third of the Revolutionary War battles were fought in New York.

New York numbers of men to fight for the Union army in the Civil War varies in reported numbers from 370,000 to 460,000.

There had to be some New Yorkers' who fought for the Confederacy given the politics that existed in New York. Both sides North and South had recruitment effort.

One of our nations largest civil insurrection in American history outside of the Civil War itself occurred in New York City. See Draft Riots. No major battles of the Civil War occurred in the “Empire State”.
