The Way I See It:
Somebody needs to inform our puppet and chief that "Climate Change", "Global Warming" and or "Climate Disruption", whatever the doomsayers are calling it these days has nothing to do with sever weather, storms, rainfall or snowfall for that matter. Keeping with the Democrat Socialist playbook by not letting a crisis go to waste, he's citing the Climate Change Challenge is the cause of the the flooding crisis. Here's a point, the flooding in NYC and in New Jersey was due to heavy rainfall in a one hour period. Point of fact, NYC has 12,750 miles of sidewalks, 6,074 miles of paved road covering 321 square miles of area. Of that 321 square mile area, only 150,000 acres are left over for even more development. Let's top that off with when you consider the population of NYC, each person has a miniscule 146 square feet of open space. Literally put that's about the size of a bathroom in most homes.
Common sense tells me, that climate change isn't the problem. This is not the first time NYC was faced with a heavy one day rainfall. But this time the available open ground to absorb rain water is basically non existent in NYC. A simple analogy: If one has a bath tub, and one punches 4 holes in the bottom, you could run the water 24/7 and the tub would not fill up and overflow, but if one plugs all the holes the tub would be overflowing within 20 minutes or less, depending of course the size of the tub. NYC is now that giant tub, and NYC simply doesn't have enough holes it it to drain a rainfall of 3+ inches in one hour that covers the entire NYC tub. Drainage systems throughout NYC are insufficient, for a tub that large. So, let's stop blaming the rain, the occasional storms for simply falling. The blame is solely with the plugging of the holes, thereby not allowing the NYC tub to drain.
Basic physics tells use that when water starts in a large pipe, that gradually tapers to smaller dimensions, that the water will pick up speed and force, so at the end of the the fast moving forceful water it hits a basin with no holes, the water becomes destructive as then water will always find the escape of least resistance in order to seek it's own level. If the only place where water is force to escape be a basement window apartment, it will surely go there.
It's ludicrous to blame the water, the weather or the climate for doing what it naturally does. Analogy number two: If you build your house in bear country, don't be surprised if the bears are still there. Same goes for mountain lions, moose, badgers, wolves, etc. ,etc.
NYC and other places that experience floods after heavy rains have a development problem not a climate change problem.
That's the way I see it...
