Hope some are an interesting read to ya'll, and discussion is of course welcome;

I'll start with this one, which I think is probably best posted with the title, link and small excerpt (<-- hoping that's the appropriate way to post articles on other forums);

"What On Earth Can the Left and Right Compromise?”

http://wethepeopleusa.ning.com/forum/topics/what-on-earth-can-the-left-and-right-compromise

excerpt;

Once Conservatives started "compromising" their principles of individual freedom and less government in favor of the Progressive's collective ideology, the end of America's free Republic became preordained

-------------------------------------------------------------

...personally, I woulda began the progressive era catastrophe before the 16th amendment, which the article begins it at. I'd go back at least to the 14th amendment. But that wasn't a compromise by the R party (which somehow is assumed to have a quantum entanglement with 'conservative') and doesn't fit the article's primary point of how compromise has proven destructive, it was the party's primary mission at the time.

  • California banned sale of new vehicles with gasoline motors beginning 2035.

    Used cars' resale value will leap in 2035. If there's anybody left there that can afford them there'll be rail cars loaded with used cars heading west. That'll be fitting, bringing to fruition U.S.A. having it's own Cuba.

    • Larry, I recall when CA put a hard stop on aged commercial tractors and those tractors found their way to south of the border. Suspect if 2035 comes to pass that many gs fueled vehicles will go south of the border. After Katrina we passed through LA. There were fields of vehicles that were stored there after being moved often by insurance companies, I checked with locals on that. Those vehicles made their way to used car markets across our nation.

      CA charges dealerships now for selling gas vehicles. That cost is passed on to consumers.

  • while reading a news article today about our WOKE corporations, focusing on Goodyear, it occurred to me that it all kinda rhymes with the point in Atlas Shrugged that triggered John Galt's change in his life's direction. It was his WOKE employer that inadvertantly sent him on his new mission in life, shutting down the engine of the world.

    • Oh... great minds and all that... I felt the need to pull out my notes and watch the movie again... my brain just can't remember everything like it used to!!! But I have this urge to revive all that truth... This website is a fantastic ref. source our discussions go back over 10 yrs... so much info... so much history leading up to NOW!

      • Hi Susan

        your mentioning the movie reminded me I hadn't yet watched it. Found it available for free on youtube yesterday and watched all 3 parts.Part I was best, Part II was still good but thought the actors/actresses change was a little disappointing - not enough to care much though. Was a pretty disappointed in part III - thought it's quality of presentation and plot focus deminished into B quality. Became more of a typical hollywood girl gets boy story than it shoulda.Was almost obvious it would as soon as you saw the new Dagny.

        • I am usually disappointed in pt 2 and 3 of most stories... But still what a brilliant foretelling mind...Ayn Rand

  • was just thinking about how atrocious I found obie's words and behavior in John Lewis' televised funeral yesterday, and after going through several trains of thought like how much i despise EVERYTHING being politicized and how that's the natural consequences of a culture/society relying on government 1st for solutions... I got to thinking again about how awful a difference it has made that TeaParty chose to commit itself primarily to partisan politics. Before that catastrophic decision TeaParty was headed in a much more promising direction, creating non-partisan organizations like True The Vote and generating action by the disenfranchised believers in the constitution and the concepts of individual liberty it brought forth into this world. The folks that were being referred to with popular phrases like 'You are not alone' and  'We surround them'. The same folks who largely faded back into inaction after the stupid decision to commit to partisan politics in search of solutions was made and put into TeaParty policy and procedure. TeaParty had been heading down the right path to solutions, the path away from trusting government 1st and only for solutions. People organizing independently of government to address problems both within the structure of government and traditionally outside it. But that path suddenly came to an abrupt end with one very profoundly stupid decision.

    The consequences continue to pile up.. and obie's despicable words and behavior at a televised funeral yesterday have brought to mind another disastrous consequence.. in committing to focus on R party/partisan politics for solutions TeaParty showed Young Turks and other up until then fringe radical progressive groups how to go about hijacking a political party and they then created Justice Democrats to get it done. Enter 'The Squad', to immediately 'normalize' extremely radical progressive ideology -- and it's been accomplished already, as was demonstrated and further normalized and validated by the several progressive political elite of both major parties at John Lewis' televised funeral yesterday.

    One very stupid decision.. choosing the well worn and well proven wrong path at the moment of final opportunity of finding reasonable solutions to a rapidly growing disaster. Committing to relying 1st and only on politics and government to provide the solutions instead.    ...silly humans

  • So the Washington Redskins have conceded to the brat stomp crowd and will change their name. NOT GOOD at all that politically correct has taken charge to this degree in this country. If the pc culture ever figures this out Oklahoma better prepare for a name change too..

    The name Oklahoma is based on Native American (Choctaw) words "okla humma" which translates as "red people." All State Name Origins Recorded history for the name "Oklahoma" began with Spanish explorer Coronado in 1541 on his quest for the "Lost City of Gold." Oklahoma became the 46th state on November 16, 1907.

      just surreal, can't say unbelievable though - it's been the imminent outcome of allowing the 'progressives' growing validity for decades but discounted as crazy, paranoid or ancient beliefs and ignored.

  • Larry, I do remember, I was there too!

    This makes so much sense, it is "the way it used to be"...

    I live in Imperial County, where we used to produce 35% of the US veggies, and I always was sickened by the absolutely good food that was simply allowed to rot and be lowed under... I wrote letters, I had a one-person protest, trying to bring attention to the waste... It's all about money- their insurance covers what is plowed under ... and God forbid a lawsuit by some homeless person who injures themselves while gleaning- that happened! They used to look the other way when folks gleaned the fields... until that lawsuit...

    • Suzie, didn't mean to leave ya out - had my mind on TeaParty Patriots forum, were you there too?

      I remember what you're referring to also. When I was a child there was a farm on the route to my grandparent's place that was known to allow people to pick the leftover green beans after they harvested. (didn't know that was called gleaning) It was part of scheduling a trip to their place. I didn't like it much, seemed like unpleasant and unnecessary work to me.  :~}

      yeah too about the lawsuit ruining things.. that sucks. I usually cringe when reading about people being proud to use their misfortune to get yet another law created. Seems like twisted+selfish destructive logic to me.
